Small Earth Home

Earth homes offer so many benefits to the homeowners while also having a very unique and intriguing aesthetic. Since they’re embedded or surrounded on multiple sides by earth, the house is super-insulated which reduces the amount of required heating and cooling throughout the year. How could we design a simple and small earth home in a rural place?

This earth home has a 950 square foot living area and is embedded in the earth one three out of four sides. It also has a green roof that blends into the landscape around it. In fact, you can walk onto the roof from the land around the home and sit on the edge overlooking the private pond. Only one side of this simple earth home is open where there’s a porch, plenty of sliding glass doors, and easy access to all the common spaces of the home.
